Dolphins 0-6, are the Dolphins the New Jets?

I had the pleasure of watching the Miami Dolphins lose yet another game at home in Miami.  At the stadium the seats were empty and the crowd was not quite enthusiastic.  I was expecting another devastating loss for the Dolphins, considering the underwhelming Jets had taught them a thing or two last week.  However, the Dolphins performed much better than I expected and managed to prevent the Broncos from scoring for the majority of the game.  Unfortunlately there was a surprise twist at the end of this game.

Heading Down the Home Stretch

I need to focus on my ability. My last day of school is rapidly approaching. July 3rd will be my last day of class for God knows how long. I have been meaning to get back to writing on here for a while, but I've been busy trying to tie up some loose ends with school. Fortunately, there is a light at the end of this tunnel. Unfortunately, the end of the tunnel might be approaching too quickly.

On My Way Back Home - Both Literally and Figuratively

Here I am typing on my sweet new Samsung 900x3a, an empty shell of a man, or in my case the empty shell of a great man.  And by empty, I mean completely full; I ate a lot of food yesterday.  I haven't been "here" for a while, and I am trying to change that.  School has been a little too easy lately, although I have a bunch of stuff piling up that I should be working on now.  This is obviously much more important.  Today is a fresh start for me.  It's time for me to "get back in shape."  I've got a long way to go, on my way back home.

Mini Movie Review - Buried - Watch a Guy Named Paul Try to Escape from a Box

How does this sound for a movie? A guy named Paul, working as a contractor in Iraq, is kidnapped by a bunch of terrorists and is buried alive. The entire, and I mean entire movie, is about this guy named Paul trying to escape from a box buried underground. When I first read about this movie, I assumed that the majority of the movie would focus on the box, with flashbacks and other scenes. Man was I wrong, the entire movie just has one scene and one actor. Join me for this mini review on Buried starring Ryan Reynolds, and see why this movie may or may not be worth your time.

This is Not a Filler Post - Beard/New Haircut/Wolverine Update Important

Actually this is a filler post. I've hit a little dry spell right now, though I did have some posts planned for this week. Lets just say some of them needed some major revisions due to some unforeseen circumstances. But its Monday, and I have neither class or work, which is an anomaly, and I have nothing to do so I figured I'd write some stuff. I knew if I didn't write anything soon, I would actually go insane, more insane than I already am. So here we go.

Anatomy of a Sandwich - Nutella Panini with Walnuts

Ok, this one was entirely my idea.  I received the inspiration for this sandwich, a few weeks ago when I made a nutella, peanut butter, and chocolate covered pretzel sandwich.  Eventually I ordered one of these, a nutella panini with walnuts, and I'm addicted.

I'm Almost Back/Dr. Dog at Terminal 5

Well, I don't want a thing to do with your kind.  And I ain't got no time to kill on your dime.  I haven't written anything in a while because I have been extremely busy with school, work, the gym, and everything in between.  However, by the end of this week I'll be done with this trimester.  I definitely want to rev up my posts on here.  I got some some new ideas for this site.  I am already planning some posts on stock picks, and I have some more reviews ready in the pipeline.  Overall things have been going pretty well for me lately.  I am somehow managing to BS my way through numerous school projects and papers without any hitches.  I have also been getting really good results form the gym, especially in the last few days.  Let's just say I found a "new" source of motivation.  And to top off an already amazing week, I got to go see Dr. Dog perform at Terminal 5 for a second time.

Quest to Find a Scary Movie

I have been on this quest for quite some time.  I am a huge fan of horror movies, and I have been trying to find a movie that is scary, captivating, and enjoyable.  I have only found a few that contain all three of these characteristics.  I want to make this quest a joint effort.  So I will document my findings here for all of you, and hopefully you guys can makes suggestions.  If I get enough people working on this maybe we can find something good.  Please join me on my quest to find a movie that will truly scare the shit out of all of us.

Music Pick of the Week - Two Door Cinema Club - Tourist History

I discovered these guys almost a year ago. I got the album, but never listened to it until about a few months back. Late is always better than never, and for Two Door Cinema Club's debut album, Tourist History is better than most. TDCC has an upbeat contemporary pop sound that would fit perfectly in most car commercials. Even if that doesn't make sense to you , it is a great album to listen to while driving at night. While this kind of pop isn't my favorite genre, this album is highly addicting and I can't get enough.

Movie Review: Black Swan - More like Black Swan dive off a cliff and down a flight of stairs

Talk about an overrated movie.  I watched this movie because I've been hearing good things about it online, and from friends.  My cousin Joe, went out of his way to tell me that it is a must see movie.  Directed by Darren Aronofsky, known for directing the films The Wrestler and Requiem for a Dream.  I loved The Wrestler, but this movie just didn't do it for me.  Aronofsky is known for dark and gritty film-making.  I had issues going into the movie knowing it is a dark psychological thriller about a ballet.  But hey, we live in modern times, and people like this contemporary bullshit.  For those of you out there who want to see it just for the lesbian sex scene between Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, yes you know who you are, don't waste your time or money.  Besides neither of them are hot anyway.  While the film might have some highlights, it does not live up to all the hype.  Hit the jump to hear more.

Anatomy of the Sandwich - The Draft - Buon Amici

Now this one was quite interesting.  What do you get when you combine Chicken Cutlet, Fresh Mozzarella, Caramelized Onions, Pepperoni with spicy ranch and hot sauce?  The Draft.  I was hesitant to order this sandwich, especially because I hate hot sauce.  But I was surprised at the outcome of what seems like a Frankenstein of a sandwich.  Hit the jump for the rest of the autopsy. 

Steelers Shoot Down the Jets - No Excuses, Just Big Mistakes - New Revelation in Rex Ryan Conspiracy

Yesterday was a sad day for New York Jets fans. As the game progressed in the first half it had seemed as if the Jets lost their magic touch. I knew things weren't going to be good. I am sure fans lost hope in their team, and the Jets lost hope in themselves. I remained hopeful, and waited to see what the Jets would do differently in the second half. And to the surprise of many, the New York Jets we all know and love were back. Though it appears they were a little too late to take the game back. I have to give the Jets credit for fighting until the very end, an uphill battle the entire way. It could have been the greatest comeback of the season. But mistakes were made, and time ran out. The Jets lost it at the very end, and their spot in the Super-bowl slipped through their fingers. Lets hope for better things next year, and that the Steelers win the Super bowl.

Album Review / Pick of the Week - Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes

I found out about these guys by luck.  I noticed my friend John had the song Home in his recent plays list.  Then the next morning I heard my brother Steve play the song.  Listening to it half asleep, I fell in love with it.  Then realizing what I had heard was the same guys John was listening to I decided to get the album and check it out.  Edward Sharpe’s debut album Up from Below unexpectedly became one of my favorite albums of the year.  Edward Sharpe and Crew successfully brought me back to a better time, allowing me to revisit the Wild Wild West as if it were a soundtrack to a classic western film.

First Manning, Now Brady - Rex's Rampage Continues - Jets are one step closer to the Superbowl

For those of you who thought my prediction that the Jets would beat the Patriots was BS, I thank you.  It is people like you who made everyone believe the game would be a walk in the park for the Pats.  Fortunately, for the Jets, this happened exactly the way Rex Ryan wanted.  The game on Sunday, probably the biggest upset of the year followed by the Colts game, will be remembered by many.  The Jets set records against the Patriots in both sacks and interceptions.  They are on the road to the Superbowl, and Ryan’s master plan is falling into place.  The underdogs are victorious, and only the Steelers stand in the way of the Superbowl.  Ladies and Gentlemen, the New York Jets mean business.

Damn, now that's what I call football.  The Sunday night wildcard game on Saturday was one of the most exciting games I have watched all season.  The Jets came to Indianapolis to prove to everyone that they belong in the playoffs, despite the Colts being the favored team.  During an extremely low scoring and close game the Jets came out on top as Nick Folk kicked the winning field goal that ended the score at 17-16.  So what does this win mean for the Jets and how does this affect the Rex Ryan conspiracy?  And how can the Jets dethrone the Patriots?  Find out after the jump.

Movie Review: True Grit - Grits aren't for Everyone

So me and the fellers took a trip last night to go see True Grit.  It was a tough call because we were also thinking about seeing The Fighter or Tron.  Needless to say, I do not regret our decision, and we will probably see the other films soon anyway.  The put it simply, True Grit is a great film.  I will admit it wasn't what I expected when I walked into the theater.  But this remake of the old John Wayne classic was able to hold its own in 2011.  See why I give this movie two grits up, after the jump.

This is my album pick of the week for two reasons.  Number one, the album is free for download off the artist's website(see link below).  Number two, the album is a mash-up of Big Boi's and the Black Keys' latest albums.  Nuff said.

The Paul of 2011:The Beginning of a Better Man

It's all here, today is the only day.  The old times make way for the new.  Its 2011 and I need to come up with a new year's resolution, a super new year's resolution to be exact.  Every year I try to come up with something specific, like going on a diet,  promising to study more, and so on.  But I've come to the conclusion that while specific resolutions like that are usually easier to follow that they don't really have that much of an impact on someone's life.  I also don't like the idea that a new year's resolution as a one time deal.  I mean honestly, if we are going to promise to ourselves and each other that we are going to make a change to better our lives, then why not promise to do it continually not just this year but for the many ahead.  So this year I decided to adopt the general resolution to become a better version of myself.  My super resolution for 2011, and for the rest of my life is to be the best version of my self that I can be.

So here I am, in New Jersey watching the Jets game with my cousins.  This is my first post of the year 2011 and I figured I would make it a good one by starting on a positive note.  I am going to make my first prediction of the new year.  The Jets will beat the Bills 38 to 7.

A Christmas Eve Story: Death of a Salesman's Jeep

Twas the night before Christmas, and I was on my way to Brooklyn to visit my Grandma.  My mom was already in Brooklyn, and I was driving down with the rest of my family.  What we all believed would be a short 35 minute drive, turned out to be a three hour ride from hell.  What had happened on that night could only be retold justly through a full length feature film, however I lack the time, resources, and money to produce such a film.  I will do my best to describe what happened last night as vividly and accurately as possible in this post.  Let us all be grateful on this Christmas day for everything that we have, including each other, and let's hope my Jeep can be brought back to life or that I get a new car for Christmas.  Either would be fine.
